Drunk and Drunker

November 25, 2002

I met Lexy at Union Pool about 9 PM on Friday. We had a few drinks, took some photobooth pictures, and then left to find somewhere less crowded. She took me to a secret underground location — a bar in the basement of a Chinese restaurant where there were a bunch of drunks celebrating an even drunker girl's birthday. The birthday girl took four breaths to blow out 3 candles—then lost her purse and her scarf—and cut a cake that no one ate. We stayed late and watched a couple make out on the couch. The girl got up to go to the bathroom, while the guy sat and waited. She was taking forever, so the guy started pounding on the door, but she still didn't come out. When she finally did, she was trying to put big sunglasses on but was having trouble finding her face. She eventually found it, sort of, and put them on cockeyed, then put her coat on and ditched the guy. We laughed as he went running after her.

I visited with my upstairs neighbor, Jasmin, earlier. We've been talking about taking pictures of her for a long time, and we talked about it again. She wants her friend Reem to pose with her. Reem came to visit a while ago and put charcoal from my fireplace on her face. When she saw this picture, she didn't remember what it was all about. I didn’t remember, either, but, then again, I never did.
