Underwater
June 26, 2003
It's sunny. It's hot. I'm underwater.
The sun burns down through the murky lake and lights up the sandy bed below. Come under with me and open your eyes. Lets look at each other, blurred, shapeless and glowing. The curious fish won't bother us. Grab my hands, let me pull you close. Wrap your legs around my waist and we'll bounce and splash and laugh and laugh. Who can hold their breath longer? Underwater 'til our heads throb and the colors shift. The birds throw shadows as they pass above us. Look up. The sun breaks and sparkles. The trees dance through the ripples. Bob up and breathe. Hearts pounding. Rub your face, push your hair, dripping and stringy, away from your eyes and smile. Let the past wash over your cheeks and drip from your chin. Watch the future dissolve on the horizon.
